Combining real-world clinical data from hospitals with SeltaSquare’s RWD/RWE study design and analytics capabilities

Building on the achievements of the “Medical AI Data Utilization Voucher Program,” the partnership formalizes a collaborative framework for generating real-world evidence (RWE)

SeltaSquare Co., Ltd. (CEO Minkyung Shin) announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hallym University Medical Center on the 29th to promote medical data-driven research and business collaboration. The signing ceremony took place at Ilsong Cultural Hall, 5th floor of the Annex 2 building of the Dohun Digital Medical Innovation Institute, Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital.

Attending the ceremony were Jaejun Lee, Director of Hallym University Medical Center; Youngkyun Seo, Director of the Big Data Center at Hallym University Medical Center; and Hwiyoung Kim, Director of the H-Data Strategy Center at Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital. From SeltaSquare, CEO Minkyung Shin and Hyejung Lee, Head of the IE Strategy Division, attended. Key representatives and working-level staff from both organizations discussed the future direction of medical data research and specific plans for collaboration.

The agreement was designed to combine the clinical expertise, medical data resources, data analytics capabilities, and research expertise of both organizations, strengthening the research foundation and establishing a comprehensive framework for continuous joint research and scientific evidence generation. The two organizations have been collaborating since SeltaSquare was selected in the second call for the “2026 Medical AI Data Utilization Voucher Program,” led by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and administered by the Korea Health Information Service. Under this program, together with three hospitals including Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital, they are developing “AI-based standard terminology mapping” and “Adverse Event of Special Interest (AESI) detection technology” to advance RMP-based RWD safety analysis.

In the global healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, RWD and RWE are becoming increasingly important for confirming what traditional randomized controlled trials (RCTs) alone struggle to show: the long-term safety and real-world treatment effectiveness of drugs, and screening results across diverse patient populations. Accordingly, public-private collaboration models, which combine high-quality clinical data held by medical institutions with the industry’s advanced study design and analytics capabilities to generate scientifically reproducible evidence, are drawing significant attention.

Building on this partnership, the two organizations agreed to go beyond one-off studies and build a sustainable framework for medical data collaboration, and to move forward in earnest with RWD/RWE-based evaluation of drug safety and effectiveness as well as technical cooperation. By linking the hospital’s clinical data with SeltaSquare’s expertise in transforming pharmacovigilance (PV) and post-marketing clinical operations through AX and DX, they plan to generate highly reliable evidence with enhanced methodological reproducibility.

Hallym University Medical Center said it will use its extensive clinical data and expertise in real-world clinical research to generate reliable real-world evidence. CEO Minkyung Shin of SeltaSquare emphasized, “We hope this agreement will become the starting point for a standard collaboration model that meets the needs of global regulatory authorities and industry.”
