SeltaSquare (CEO: Shin Min-kyung), an AI-based pharmacovigilance specialist company, has been selected as the implementing institution for the "Research on Curriculum Development for Strengthening Practical Competencies in Clinical Trial Pharmacovigilance" — a project commissioned by the Korea National Enterprise for Clinical Trials (KoNECT).

This initiative marks the first-ever project in Korea to develop and operate a practice-oriented pharmacovigilance (PV) curriculum. Moving beyond the theory-heavy approach of existing educational programs, the project aims to introduce hands-on, practice-based content that can be immediately applied in real workplace settings, thereby substantially improving the practical competencies of PV professionals.

The project will run for approximately eight months from April to November 2025, and includes tasks such as surveying the current state of pharmacovigilance education in Korea and abroad, designing a practice-based curriculum, delivering training, and evaluating its effectiveness. Through this project, SeltaSquare plans to redefine the standards of PV education in Korea and establish a systematic framework for developing qualified specialists.

To support this effort, SeltaSquare launched a "PV Education Needs Survey for Pharmacovigilance Practitioners in the Pharmaceutical Industry" starting May 27th. Approximately 1,000 respondents (923 in total) participated in the week-long survey, clearly confirming the strong real-world demand and high expectations from practitioners in the field.

Building on these findings, KoNECT and SeltaSquare plan to run a pilot program based on a case-based learning and hands-on training model that can be immediately applied in the workplace. The pilot program will be conducted in three sessions: Session 1 on July 16th, covering "Risk Management"; Session 2 on September 2nd, covering "PV Inspections and Audits"; and Session 3 on October 23rd, covering "ICSR Processing Practicum."

CEO Shin Min-kyung of SeltaSquare stated: "By developing this curriculum alongside experts who have carried out PV work at domestic and international pharmaceutical companies for many years, we aim to substantively improve the expertise of pharmacovigilance practitioners in Korea and build a systematic educational infrastructure."

Han Gyeong-hee, Director and PVQA Expert of SeltaSquare's Medical Division, stated: "Drawing on our experience contributing to the enhancement of practitioners' field response capabilities through the company-led 'Trend Education' pharmacovigilance training program in 2024, we will provide a practical and systematic education program through this KoNECT project as well." She added: "Through practice-focused training that pharmacovigilance professionals can immediately apply in their day-to-day work, we will strive to raise the overall level of PV competency in Korea."
